Our 2nd annual Oktoberfest Party
September 29th, two weeks after we got back from Disney
Homemade marzen beer again from Jeremy and his brother Curt.
I don't know how to add an umlaut to the a in marzen to make it German.
They brew this months in advance.
This ran out close to 6. The party started at 4
The kids decorated pumpkins and had their own menu
Mostly neighborhood and close family members
We had a beer stein holding contest like they often do at Oktoberfest in Germany. We had a guys and girls contest. It was a lot harder than I anticipated to hold my glass cup at a 45 degree angle in between my ear and my shoulder. My excuse was my arms were fatigued from carrying around 15 pounds of potato salad, tables, and cooking for 100 people all day. :)
The adult menu:
Brats with Sauerkraut and Buns
Homemade potato Soup
Apple Cider Slaw
Veggies with Dip
Pretzels with assorted mustards and authentic German cheese dip
Pork Loin
German Potato Salad
Dessert included apple pie squares, my pumpkin bars and
german chocolate brownies.
All the food was gluten free (except the brats above that were soaked in beer and then grilled by our neighbor Aaron and the pretzels ).
These pictures are in no particular order
next year I pledge to take better pictures and maybe
just maybe, wear liederhosen myself.
