At 3 1/2 Audrey had officially outgrown her little tricycle and was ready for a big girl bike. We took her to the store and told her she could pick one out. Her only requirement: it had to be pink and purple.
She went in wanting a princess bike, like her friend, Julia. But the store only sold them in 12" and 16". Audrey needed a 14" bike. Bummer. There were only two 14" bikes available. She was a little sad at first that the princess bike wasn't her size, until I showed her that the Tinkerbell bike she was riding played music too. Well that sold her. We got the fairy bike complete with music and streamers and a Rapunzel helmet. (Only to find out we got the wrong size. 3+ was not big enough for her head. So, we're working on that.
The first night we had it we went for a family walk. Finally, a family walk that burns some calories again! At one point Audrey said, "Mom, I love this bike!"
She's had a few spills when she cut the corner too close, and she's gotten stuck in the grass a time or two when she'll stop watching where she's going and veer into someone's yard. All around, she loves the bike! It's so fun to watch her ride down the sidewalk, steamers blowing in the wind, her silvery sparkle tennis shoes pedaling and every now and then she'll push the button on the front of her bike that plays fairy music. She's so grown up!
